Open House at Cooperative Oxford Lab
Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), NOAA’s National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, and U.S. Coast Guard Station Oxford are holding an Open House at the Cooperative Oxford Laboratory as part of the Town’s Oxford Day celebration on Saturday, April 26 from noon to 3 p.m.
The Lab will be open to the public and will feature research displays, Chesapeake Bay critters, T-shirt painting, buoy building, and beach seining. DNR is honored to serve this community and we hope you join in the celebration. This is a family and dog-friendly event. More information on Oxford Day is available below.
Oxford Day festivities kick-off at 8:30 a.m.with a Blessing of the Pets followed by the Talbot Humane Dog Walk and Oxford Dog Show. A family hour of games for all ages will be held at Town Park and a parade is planned from 11 a.m. to noon. Other activities include a plant sale hosted by Holy Trinity Church, Oxford Museum opening day, free Oxford Ferry rides, a pickleball clinic and tournament, a USCG water rescue demo, plus great food and live music. The full schedule can be found on the Oxford Day 2025 website.
The Cooperative Oxford Lab is a joint research facility of DNR and NOAA, and the grounds are also the home of the USCG STATION Oxford. Over the last 60 years, the lab has delivered science to serve those who earn a living from the Bay and those who manage the resources of the Bay and its surrounding watersheds. While the Lab’s research has evolved over time, the goal remains the same: to help the Chesapeake Bay – a national treasure – remain healthy and productive.
DNR and its partners are proud to be a part of the Town of Oxford community and to help guide Chesapeake Bay restoration and management. We hope you will join us on April 26.
